Outline (in English)
「Outline」
Both each class and the course itself will move from everyday conversation, easy games and role plays to progressively more academic discussion. It is an intensive speaking course in which students will spend most of every class period speaking. Throughout the class, students will also be practicing turning oral communication into written form. Related listening and reading activities will introduce models of conversation, discussion, and writing.
[Learning Objectives]
The purpose of this course is for students to move from being comfortable with daily conversation to discussion and debate of current events and academic issues. In addition, it will help students to gain greater proficiency in writing logically.
1) Students will gain greater fluency in oral and written communication.
2) Students will understand the basis of logic and argumentation in discussion and writing.
3) Based on a review of paragraph structure, students will learn to present and write logically.
4) Students will understand grammar and vocabulary to refine their writing at the sentence level.
[Learning activities outside of classroom]
Students will complete writing assignments started in class.
Students will prepare for and practice for presentations and debate.
Students will complete grammar and vocabulary exercises each week.
[Grading Criteria]
In-class Communication Activities (40%) Homework Assignments（20%）、Debate preparation activities and writing (20%), Final debate and position paper (20%).

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
各クラス、授業全体共に、日常会話、簡単なゲーム、ロールプレイなどから、徐々にアカデミックなディスカッションへと移行します。本授業は集中的なスピーキング コースで、学生は授業時間のほとんどをスピーキングに費やします。授業全体を通して、学生は口頭でのコミュニケーションを元にして文章を書けるようになる練習も行います。関連するリスニングとリーディングのアクティビティでは、会話、ディスカッション、ライティングのモデルを紹介します。
到達目標Goal
この授業の目的は、生徒が日常会話に慣れることから始め、検討する対象を時事問題や学問上の問題についてのディスカッションやディベートに移行することです。さらに、学生が論理的に書く能力を向上させることに繋げます。
1) 頭と文字でのコミュニケーションの力をつける。特に
2) アカデミイクライティングは論証に基づいていることを理解する。
3) パラグラフ構成を基にして、論理的にディベートの議論と、アカデミック論文 作成について学習する。
4) 適切な単語・語句を使って文法的に正しい文を書けるようになる。

目標を達成するために、授業中実施することは主に次の３つである。
・授業の時間は主にペア・グループで会話・ディスカッション・ディベートの練習 をする。
・パラグラフ構成を基にして、論理的なアカデミック論文を作成する。
・毎週、文法ポイントを練習しながら、一文レベルの基本文法を確認する。
提出された宿題、課題・クイズ、期末試験については採点のうえ、返却されます。
