Outline (in English)
This class aims to give students the skills in writing and knowledge of basic elements of English composition to write accurate sentences, employing punctuation and simple transitions accurately. It also aims to enable students to organise and write clear well-formed paragraphs, employing reference and cohesive devices.
Students will be able to create accurate simple, compound and complex sentences. Students will be able to punctuate these sentences. Students will be able to use reference accurately. Students will be able to outline, organise and write viable paragraphs. Students will acquire the vocabulary necessary to understand further feedback and instruction to enable ongoing instruction in writing in English.

The objective of this class is to enable students to write clear accurate paragraphs and understand the basic features of academic text.
本授業の目的は、学生が明確で正確な文章を書き、学術文書の基本的な構成要素を理解できるようにすることです。
到達目標Goal
Students will be able to create accurate simple, compound and complex sentences. Students will be able to punctuate these sentences. Students will be able to use reference accurately. Students will be able to outline, organise and write viable paragraphs. Students will acquire the vocabulary necessary to understand further feedback and instruction to enable ongoing instruction in writing in English.
Students will be introduced to specific discreet skills and be able to test their understanding with examples. Students then practice the skills and are given feedback to reinforce their understanding. Students will be encouraged to analyse their work and those of their classmates to build skills in editing compositions.

授業時間外の学習(準備学習・復習・宿題等)Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
Some preparation and testing of understanding will be done outside of the classroom and recorded by using the Learning Management System.
Two written assignments will be assigned to test students ability to integrate skills in writing longer texts.
There will be a final written test at the end of the course.
