Outline (in English)

(Course outline)
This class reinforces the development of a rich vocabulary and accurate grammatical knowledge, and based on this knowledge, aims at the comprehensive development of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking). In the science and engineering fields, English is the common language. Technicians and scientists of the future will need the ability to comprehend and communicate in English to meet the need of society for high levels of English. In order to meet this need, this class emphasizes the development of basic, comprehensive skills and knowledge and the ability to apply them. Based on the needs of students, a variety of effective approaches will be used to strengthen basic English competency.

(Learning Objectives)
We aim to cultivate comprehensive English basic skills in this lesson. Using texts about History of England, we read the contents, translate, grasp, hold down the expression used in the text and enrich expressiveness by practice questions centered on English composition and listening. Since the theme of text is British history, we must learn the history of Britain, European history and world history, as a sub-theme of this lesson.

(Learning activities outside of classroom)
One hour is the standard for out-of-class learning such as preparation and review of this lesson. The translation of the text, EXERCISES, etc. are all addressed. Be sure to do the preparation. "Preparation" that only looks up words is not a preparation. Be sure to write the translation in your notebook. Be sure to finish it by yourself without relying on others. In principle, late arrivals are not allowed (late arrivals are considered absent). If you are absent four or more times in each semester, you will be disqualified from taking the final exam.

(Grading Criteria /Policy)
Evaluation method: Final exam, normal score, assignment / homework, quiz
Evaluation criteria: Normal score 30%, assignment / homework 10%, quiz 20%, final exam 40%
* The evaluation method and evaluation criteria are just a guide (details will be presented during class while observing the class situation).
