Outline (in English)
This class reinforces the development of a rich vocabulary and accurate grammatical knowledge and aims at the comprehensive development of the reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. To give and take information in English, we will practice various expressions through pair/group sessions and build comprehensive and practical language ability.You are supposed to build wider vocabulary and solid grammatical foundation to develop skills for reading, writing, listening and speaking. Prepare for and review class activities for at least one hour for each class.
You are required to hand in homework assignment or report on class activities ( making interviews and reports through pair/group work.)
You are assessed: Assignments and Class Activities 70%, Final Test 30%.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
本授業は、豊かな語彙力・正確な文法力の定着を図ると同時に、それに支えられた4技能（リーディング、ライティング、リスニング、スピーキング）の総合的な向上を目的とする。理工・生命系の分野では、英語が世界共通語になっていることを受け、将来の技術者・研究者には必要な専門知識を英語で受信・発信できる英語力に加え、社会の要求に応えられる高度な英語運用能力の習得が求められる。本授業では、そのための基礎力・総合力・応用力をつけるべく、学生の英語力を基にどのスキルに重点を置くか見極めた上で、効果的な教授方法を取り入れて実施する。
到達目標Goal
Our goal is to get the ability to comprehend and communicate in English in the science and engineering fields. Let's try to widen your English expression through pair- or group work in the class.

You will be given handouts of conversation skits or short articles for Reading practices. You will make interviews and reports through pair/group work during class sessions and submit the report on the given topic. The reports and assignments will be given back in the next class.

You will be assessed: Class/Homework assignments 70%

Final Report 30%
If you don't attend the class 4 or more times, you will not get the credit. If you come late for the class 3 times, it will be counted as one
absence.
