Outline (in English)

Information devices, including computers, are becoming more sophisticated and complex, so that the mechanism to easily communicate information between humans and information devices has become extremely important. This lecture covers the design and evaluation methods of human interfaces, which realize the communication between humans and information devices. Related to these methods, this lecture also covers the characteristics of human sensory organs and information processing.

【Goal】
Upon completion of this lecture, students will be able to adequately explain their knowledge of the human interface. More specifically, students will be able to:
(i) explain the characteristics of human sensory organs and human error, (ii) explain the design method of human interface, and (iii) explain the evaluation method of human interface.

【Learning Activities Outside of Classroom】
The standard time to spend preparing and reviewing this lecture is 4 hours. Students must complete the assigned homework to acquire the knowledge learned in the class.

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Students are evaluated based on the semester final exam (70%) and the homework assignments (30%). More than 60% will be considered as a passing grade, where the grades (S,A,B,C) are, in principle, determined based on the relative scores of the semester final exam.
