Outline (in English)

This course will provide the fundamentals of quantum physics, which is an essential learning to understand the physical and chemical properties and phenomena involving atoms and molecules. First, you will learn in detail what the basic principle of quantum mechanics and the Schrodinger equation, the concept of wave function and its physical meaning. Furthermore, you will learn the application of quantum mechanics to translational motion, molecular vibration and rotational motion and learn about their energy states.

・Attainment target
1)Understand the key concepts underlying quantum theory.
2)Applying quantum mechanics to the translational motion of particles, the
vibrational and rotational motions of molecules, and gaining a proper
understanding of their states.

・Learning outside of class
Prepare and review on your own using exercises from the textbook Atkins "Physical Chemistry (Part 1) 10th Edition". Supplementary printouts related to the lecture will be distributed in advance through the class support system. At the end of each lecture, assignments related to the content of the lecture will be given, so please submit them through the learning support system by the submission deadline.

・Grading methods and standards
Comprehensively evaluate whether students can understand the basic concepts and solve problems based on them based on the results of assignments, quizzes, and final exams.
