Outline (in English)

Central and peripheral nervous systems are the information processors to connect an individual animal with outside world. Animals sense environmental changes and regulate their physiological functions by the nervous systems, resulting that animals survive for prosperity of the species. Cognitive functions such as memory and learning, as well as mental activity, are driven by the central nervous system of human. The aim of the course "Neuroscience" is to help students acquire an understanding of the fundamental structure and function of the nervous system including the molecular mechanism of neuronal signal transduction. After the students have studied these basic themes, this course deals with several scientific topics including neuronal actions of dangerous drugs, mechanisms of memory, and pathogenesis of neurodegenerative and mental diseases.
