Outline (in English)

"Human Ecology" is a graduate seminar to learn cultural and social dimensions of environmental issues through working with literatures in environmental anthropology and related studies. The main goal of this seminar is to help student to obtain basic knowledge of environmental anthropology and related areas and their contributions to our understanding of human-environment relations. For students of the doctor program, the main goal is also to appropriately apply the knowledge that they learn through this seminar for their own dissertation research projects.
Students will be expected to proactively participate in class and to prepare for and review classwork daily. An expected weekly study time for this seminar is four hours on average. A final grade will be based on weekly commentaries (40%), presentation (20%), and research paper (40%).
