Outline (in English)

(Course outline)
The boundary layer of the atmosphere is closely related to human life and social systems such as industries and transportations, and it is important for us to study its characteristics so as to save the human life and society from disasters/sickness, and to create better urban/regional environments. In this course, firstly we study about fundamentals on various types of atmospheric phenomena such as ENSO, the typhoon, and and the see breeze, the mountain and valley breeze, the downburst and the tornado, and about their effects on cities and people. Secondly, as an example of the air flow significantly related to the human health, the characteristics of the indoor air are focused on. While causing the pollution contaminant advection, the indoor air flow performs to remain the room environment safe and comfortable.
(Learning Objectives)
The goals of this course are
A. to learn the time-space characteristics of various types of atmospheric phenomena,
B. to study about the wind effects on cities and people,
C. to understand the system of the indoor air ventilation and
D. to learn a statistical evaluation on atmospheric environments.
(Learning activities outside of classroom)
Students will be expected to understand the course content after each class, and to have completed a required assignment. Your study time will be more than four hours for a class on average.
(Grading Criteria /Policies)
Grading will be decided based on the report for an assignment (100%).
