Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
This economics lecture introduces basic theories on microeconomics and macroeconomics. Microeconomics views individual actors of the economy, such as consumers, households and firms and the market economics of larger scale producers. Cross-border transaction is considered trade, as we know, and it can also be explained using microeconomic theory. Through the study of macroeconomics theory, on the other hand, we take an overall look at the economy starting with measuring economic performance, followed by learning the model of circular flow. Everyday issues like unemployment, inflation, and salaries are usually seen as key targets of economic policies, and therefore seem familiar to us, and thus a good choice for the focus of our lecture. So, at least one current economic issue will be discussed in each lecture to illustrate what we study in the class.

【Learning Objectives】
This lecture has three objectives as follows and we will approach them cumulatively, building on the concepts one by one.
1.First objective - to understand the basic concepts of Economics
2.Second objective - to utilize them to analyze real economic issues
3.Third objective - to derive the appropriate policy to tackle these issues

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
As a review each class, students will be asked to write an answer to a question to submit by the next lecture. For this you will be given reference and other study materials including lecture notes at the end of each lecture. Students will be asked to read through the reference and find related issues including business issues around you to discuss in class. Your answers and corresponding activities will be graded as a replacement of the final exam.
