Outline (in English)

(Course Outline) This is an intensive class for fourth-year students, in which research activities are conducted in the main areas of media, journalism, communication, and athletic organization theory. Students will set their own themes, conduct research, gather and analyze information, and write academic papers and presentations based on the research they have conducted and the methodologies they have delved into in Special Seminar <II>.
Taking up themes that are close to one's own, such as an extension of one's own career path, events that one has repeatedly pursued in the Special Seminar and then Special Seminar <II>, or questions that one has had since one's high school days, will help one develop a more multilateral and in-depth logic.
(Learning Objectives)We do not stop at superficial ways of perceiving a theme. Not only build logic based on passive information from the Internet, print media, programs, etc., but also add active actions such as visiting the field, talking to people, collecting necessary samples, analyzing information, and verbalizing the information to lead to deeper results.
The process proceeds from (1) setting up a process plan at an early stage, (2) deciding on a theme and understanding how to proceed with writing the paper, (3) selecting, classifying, and evaluating previous research, (4) considering and finalizing research and survey methods, (5) research and survey, (6) writing to verification, further to abstract, keyword extraction, and then presentation production.
The paper should be at least 2,000 words in the main thesis.
(Learning Activities outside of Classroom) There can be a time lag in the writing of a thesis depending on the subject matter. It must be understood that early action is a fundamental requirement for good thesis writing. It is important not to stay indoors, but to actively contact a variety of related organizations and groups. It is also important to place yourself in an environment where you can look at it from many different perspectives, not just one, and it is essential to communicate with your instructor as needed, not just in the form of exercises.
It is also important to read articles and papers related to your research theme from a journalistic point of view. The standard preparation time for this class is at least 2 hours each.
(Grading Criteria/Policy) The primary outcome should be in the form of a regular thesis. As a secondary outcome, we require a presentation using slide software, etc., on the progress of the project. The key is to have a philosophy of your own, and to be able to fully digest and incorporate appropriate quotations and interview information while maintaining logical consistency. It is important not only not to fall into the trap of being one-sided or forcing the material to fit your assumptions, but also not to be satisfied with only the obvious conclusions that everyone knows.
Evaluation distribution: Graduation thesis 80%, presentation preparation 10%, process chart 10%.
