Outline (in English)

(Course Outline)The 100-minute session is student-driven. The aim is to examine and discuss various issues that appear in "society in sports" and "sports in society" with an emphasis on journalistic perspectives. The means used for this purpose are "presentations," "debates," and "essays. There are many issues in the world of sports that need improvement, such as the state of sports organizations and the environment for athletes. Sometimes the students will dig up issues from the news, other times from their own personal experiences, and after carefully researching the background and surrounding conditions, they will connect them to their own arguments. The students are expected to proceed with the seminar, considering that the themes and analyses they have taken up will be the subject of their Special Seminar <III>. In the Seminars, there will be more time for third-year students to take the lead in debates. We would like students to approach the seminars with a broad perspective and not focus solely on their own thinking.
(Learning Objectives) The task is to summarize one's own theory based on one's own experience and informed knowledge of the topic presented, to focus, to look everywhere, and to think deeply about the element. Rather than simply expressing one's opinion on each component, one must demonstrate a sharp critical mind based on one's own worldview.
The act of formulating one's own hypotheses about various events that occur in the world of sports and then proving them is no different from the way a researcher approaches the subject. Cultivate the ability to gather and present material that will strongly persuade listeners and readers.
The fundamental principles of communication: (1) easy-to-understand structure, (2) fresh information, (3) attractive presentation, (4) persuasive logic, (5) respect for third-party opinions, and (6) a balanced view of things with individuality that others do not have.
(Learning Activities Outside of Classroom)(1) Never neglect contact with reliable information sources to acquire information, and it is especially important to make a firm note of the source of such information, and that too immediately, so as not to misidentify the source.
(2) Incorporate your own experiences and value the universality in them. It is important to ask questions with your own mouth, listen with your own ears, and write them down with your own hands.
(3) Take pictures of scenes that caught your attention. It can be used to make effective slides for your own presentation. Do not forget to record the time, subject, and location of the photo.
(iv) Exchange information closely with students in Special Seminar <II> to learn their methods and perspectives.
(v) Analyze the TV presentation carefully. There are many references such as the flow, development, and method of drawing out materials. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours. We would like to create a rhythm in which the span is divided and the work is produced over a two-week period.
(Grading Criteria/Policy)Distribution:.
