Outline (in English)

【Course outline】 The main focus of sports sociology is to understand sports as a social phenomenon, or to understand various cultures and phenomena in society by observing them through sports. For example, sports can be an aspect of entertainment or a bargaining tool for political activities. By examining the relationship between humans and sports from a variety of perspectives, the objective is to recognize the role that sports have within society.
【Learning Objectives】1: Be able to explain the various ways in which people interact with sports. 2: Be able to use social theory to offer specific responses to the challenges that may arise in human involvement in sport.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】 Students are expected to read carefully the reference books and related literature related to the contents of the class before the class, and to be able to reflect them in their comments and reaction papers. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】 Class participation (reaction papers, participation in group work, speaking in class, etc.): 30%.
In-class quiz: 20%.
