Outline (in English)
Eukaryotic flagella (also called cilia) are cell organelles involved in cell motility and signal transduction. As their involvement in many diseases has been revealed in recent years, they have attracted much attention not only in basic biology but also in medical research. In this lecture, I will provide an overview of the techniques used to analyze cilia at the molecular level, while introducing the cutting-edge research in the field of cilia.
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
真核生物鞭毛（繊毛と同義）は細胞運動や細胞のシグナル伝達に関わる細胞小器官である。近年、多くの疾患に関与することが明らかとなってきているため、基礎生物学的な興味に加え、医学研究分野からも多くの注目を集めている。本講義では、鞭毛繊毛を、分子レベルで解析する技術を概説しながら、鞭毛研究の最先端を紹介する。
到達目標Goal
単細胞緑藻類クラミドモナスを用いた鞭毛の研究を題材に、細胞生物学的手法（光学顕微鏡、電子顕微鏡、1分子生物学、分子生物学、生化学など）の原理を理解することを目標とする。出席点とレポートによって評価する。
