Outline (in English)

This course is designed to facilitate an understanding of culture and society from the perspective of gender and sexuality. It uses US history as an example to ask questions such as: How have laws, medicine, religion, and science shaped the discourse of gender and sexuality? How have ordinary people understood their own gender and sexuality? How have the ideas of race and class intersected with the discourse of gender and sexuality?

By the end of the course, students are expected to be able to: 1) understand the basic concepts in gender studies, and 2) acquire critical thinking and reading skills through reading primary sources.

Students will be expected to 1)check the basic concepts related to the next class lecture, and 2) review the content of the class and work on the assignments.

Final grades will be decided by reaction paper (40%) and the final assignment (60%).
