Outline (in English)

[Course outline]
Recently, the data environment called "big data" has been improved, the word "data scientist" has been penetrated. Here, the need to deal with statistical and data analysis is growing very much in business. Also, in order to properly make decisions in business situations, it is necessary to judge objectively based on statistical theory and data, and for that purpose knowledge of statistics is necessary. This lecture aims to learn the basic theory of Statistics and empirical analysis methods and to apply it to management fields, especially marketing and business. The first half of the course focuses on the basics of Statistics, while the second half focuses on statistical modeling and multivariate analysis. Also, practical skill is acquired by performing actual data analysis using free statistical software R.

[Learning Objectives]
Students learn statistical theory and various statistical models, and can explain them to others.
Students learn how to use the statistical software R, and can perform actual data analysis.
Students can interpret the results of analysis and explain them to others.

[Learning activities outside of classroom]
Students are required to submit reports on the exercises given in the class.
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.

[Grading Criteria/Policy]
Exercise reports (several times): 40%.
Final report: 60%.
