Outline (in English)

[Course outline] This course provides fundamentals of modern finance theory and its applications to basic security analysis, investment decisions, financial asset pricing, and financial risk management. [Learning objective] The objectives of this course are to give: (1) basic knowledge of financial system, financial markets, and securities; (2) valuation methods of stocks and bonds; (3) methods for incorporating risk analysis into valuation models, including the mean-variance approach and the Capital Asset Pricing Model; and (4) applications to corporate financial decisions, including optimal capital structure, capital budgeting, and dividend policy. [Learning activities outside of classroom] Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend two hours to understand the course content. [Grading criteria/policy] Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following. Exercises: 50%, in class contribution: 50%.
