Outline (in English)

[Course outline] This course provides students with an introduction to derivatives. [Learning objective] It has four objectives: (1) To give the fundamental knowledge of financial system and derivative markets. (2) To teach the basics of derivative transactions and their applications in practice. (3) To offer the concept of the arbitrage-free pricing to evaluate derivative products including swaps and options. (4) To introduce the applications of the derivative theory to some topics such as takeover bid (TOB). [Learning activities outside of classroom] Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend more than four hours to understand the course content. [Grading criteria] Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following. Term-end examination: 80%, short examination: 20%.
