授業の概要と目的(何を学ぶか)Outline and objectives
In this graduate course on United Nations and peacebuilding studies (with focus on peacebuilding), the students will examine the role and activities of the UN and its various agencies in peacebuilding around the world. The students will analyze peacebuilding and related issues from political, economic, social, environmental, human rights, and security angles thereby deepening understanding on their inter-linkages.
到達目標Goal
In this course, the students will deepen their understanding of conflict prevention, post-conflict reconstruction and peacebuilding and how the UN system and its agencies have addressed the various challenges related to these. The students will develop the ability to critically analyze UN policies and practices in peacebuilding. Through presentation and discussion in English, the students will also enhance their English language proficiency.

The course offers a blend of theory and practice on issues related to conflict prevention, post-conflict reconstruction, and peacebuilding, especially those supported by the UN system and its agencies. Classes will focus on the analysis of different aspects of peacebuilding as well as the roles of various actors in peacebuilding through class presentation and discussion.
