Course outline
Ethical Code of Librarians by Japan Library Association says: 5. Librarians always make effort to know library resources.
The theme of this class is "the world of books and libraries for life" (spring semester) and "history of books and building up knowledge" (autumn semester).
In this class, we quest the way to forming our identity by reading and library utilization.

Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
(1) By applying the information literacy (the ability to use information resources for problem solving) learned in the librarian course, people living with various problems will find "meaning of life" from the perspective of creative value, experience value, and attitude value. to lead a fulfilling life, and to be linked to support at the level of action and practice
(2) To spread knowledge and interest in the world of books in order to continue learning that contributes to the formation of one's own personality throughout life. To be able to explain the outline of important works in the history of literature, the history of thought, and the history of scholarship, especially in the West.
(3) Learn book communication methods such as picture book therapy, and establish your own method of making reading habits while enjoying adult reading.

Learning activities outside of classroom
Students will be expected to have completed the required assignments after each class meeting. Your study time will be more than four hours for a class.

Grading Criteria /Policy
Grading will be decided based on the short reports (50%), in-class contribution including making presentations and comments (50%).
