Outline (in English)

【授業の概要(Course outline)】
The content of this class consists of the two parts. The first one is focused on Japanese laws and systems in educational administration and finance. The second is related to the topics on school organization and management including risk management,safety measure and cooperation with local community, It is necessary for those who attend the class to understand the basic knowledge of them and consider these matters by themselves.

【到達目標(Learning Objectives)】
To understand the basic concepts and legal system of the Japanese school education system and its management. Be able to explain how various educational issues relate to the legal system.

【授業時間外の学習(Learning activities outside of classroom)】
Before and/or after each class meeting, students are required to have completed the required assignments such as
 - Rereading and summarising the material handed out in class
 - Submitting Attendance Check Assignment.
The standard preparation and review time for this class is two hours each.

【成績評価の方法と基準(Grading Criteria /Policy)】
Grading is determined by the students' understanding of basic knowledge as well as their competence to argue and support their own ideas with knowledge and data. Evaluation will be based on in-class presentations, comment papers, etc. (approx. 40%) and an in-class end-of-term examination (approx. 60%).
