Outline (in English)

Course outline:
Rethinking community-initiated people development.
Based on demographic trends and labor supply and demand forecasts, it is estimated that local communities will face extremely difficult conditions in the near future. In this lecture, we will imagine life in the region in 2040 and explore solutions. In particular, we will consider what the government and local businesses can do from the perspective of human resource development in the region.
Learning Objectives:
Each student will choose a prefecture or city to research, and will make comments and do group work. Group work will be three times out of the whole course.
Learning activities outside of classroom:
Preparation takes about 2 hours per session. Students are required to research the policies and data of their chosen prefecture or municipality. Therefore, homework will be assigned for each workshop session.
Grading Criteria /Policy:
The evaluation is based on participation in lectures and the content of the final report and workshop submissions.
The report is evaluated on the following four points: accuracy of analysis of the target area, appropriateness of the problem setting, conceptual ability of the solution, and feasibility of the solution.
