Outline (in English)

The Japanese society has been dysfunctioning in the various areas such as education, welfare, labour and life(risk society). Then, how should we recreate it? The students are to learn how to design better societies through reading and discussing the efforts by some municipalities and local organizations for comprehensive support of the people with difficulties in work and life. The goal is to widen your sociological perspective and to design a better society. Before each class meeting, students will be expected to have read the relevant chapter(s) from the text and answer some questions of "preparation resume." Your study time will four hours for a class. Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following: mid-term paper 30% and term paper 70%.
