Outline (in English)

【授業の概要(Course outline)】
This class aims to gain basic understanding of the history of social studies and civic education, the goals and contents in the National Courses of Study, and teaching materials research and learning methods. Also, based on this knowledge and skills, the class further discusses how to develop lesson plans and actually design them. And then, the class also implements case studies of teaching practices, developments of lesson plans, and practices and reviews of simulated lessons with groups and individuals.

【到達目標(Learning Objectives)】
Students are able to acquire basic knowledge and skills in the use of educational methods and techniques, ITC, and teaching materials, and to be able to effectively design lesson plans with the aim of developing qualities and abilities.

【授業時間外の学習(Learning activities outside of classroom)】
Students will be expected to read research teaching materials, prepare presentations, write a lesson plan and prepare simulated lessons. Your required study time is at least four hour for each class meeting.

【成績評価の方法と基準(Grading Criteria/Policy)】
Grading will be decided based on in class contribution(30%), assignments and presentations(50%) and term-end examination(20%).
