Outline (in English)

Course Outline:
Positive psychology is an academic field that is built upon scientific investigations of psychological mechanisms behind a "good life." Drawing on the findings from the field that concern the question of "what makes life worth living," Human Behavioral Science A and B will help students expand their knowledgebase of the human mind and its inherent psychological underpinnings as well as their behavioral outcomes. The multifaceted insight acquired in the course would help students navigate a path toward an enriched everyday life.

Learning Objectives:
In Human Behavioral Science B, "A Primer in Positive Psychology" by Christopher Peterson will be used as the main text to examine a wide range of scientific studies on well-being. Through exposure to multidimensional definitions of "happiness" and following the course of psychological investigations on the topic, students will reflect on their personal endeavors for a good life while deepening their understanding of human psychology and behavior involved in the process.

Learning Activities Outside of Classroom:
The expected time commitment in preparation for and reviewing after a class meeting is two hours each per week.

Grading Criteria/Policy:
Students will be evaluated based on the quality of their reports and presentations as well as their commitment and contribution to class discussions. Details are provided during the first meeting. No exams are given.
