Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
This course provides an overview of the field of Japanese language teaching, based on a variety of materials and specific situations in the field. In other words, it introduces a wide range of basic knowledge about teaching Japanese as foreign language, and what and how it is taught, to students taking course.
 It also provides an opportunity for students to examine what learner-centered classrooms are, and to consider the creation of Japanese language teaching materials and class practices based on the current state of Japanese language education, which has been changing in accordance with the needs of the times.
【Learning Objectives】
(1) understand what kind of classroom management and what kind of teaching materials are desirable for teaching Japanese as a foreign language.
(2) set up a curriculum suited to the learners, make concrete lesson plans, select teaching materials, and create teaching materials.
(3) to introduce and explain grammar appropriately in Japanese classes and effectively perform tasks to ensure retention.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students are expected to gather information on a regular basis so that they can express their own opinions on a given theme.
 The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
【Grading Criteria/Policy】
Final examination (40%)
Presentation performance (25%)
Attitude (active participation in discussions, etc.) (20%)
Submission of assignments (15%)
Based on this grading system, students who have achieved at least 60% of the course objectives will be considered to have passed the course.
