Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
This course provides an overview of the field of Japanese language teaching, based on a variety of materials and specific situations in the field. In other words, it introduces a wide range of basic knowledge about teaching Japanese as foreign language, and what and how it is taught, to students taking course.
 It also provides an opportunity for students to reflect on their own views of language, education, and learning styles, and to consider better teaching methods based on the current state of Japanese language education, which has changed in response to the needs of the times.
【Learning Objectives】
After completing this course, students will be able to:
(1) understand what kind of field Japanese language education is and to be able to visualize it concretely.
(2) see Japanese language and Japanese society objectively from the perspective of Japanese language education.
(3) understand the significance of Japanese language teaching and its role in society, and explain it in one's own words.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students are expected to gather information on a regular basis so that they can express their own opinions on a given theme.
 The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
【Grading Criteria/Policy】
Final examination (40%)
Presentation performance (25%)
Attitude (active participation in discussions, etc.) (20%)
Submission of assignments (15%)
Based on this grading system, students who have achieved at least 60% of the course objectives will be considered to have passed the course.
