Outline (in English)

German Culture and its Crossing Borders as Read from Grimm/Disney
In this class, we will compare/contrast children's literature from German-speaking countries with the films based on them. While reading/watching the texts and films, we will also learn about the social, cultural, and historical contexts in Germany (and the U.S.) that contributed to the differences between the two.
Students will be expected to have completed the required assignments after each class meeting. Your study time will be more than four hours for a class.
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following:
Term-end report: 40%, in class contribution: 60%
