Outline (in English)

This lecture aims at strengthening the already learnt basic German grammar by using a textbook. Complementary texts will allow the students to deepen their reading and comprehension skills. By reading authentic articles and essays the students gain further insight into German society and culture.
This lecture aims at strengthening the already learnt basic German grammar by using a textbook. Complementary texts will allow the students to deepen their reading and comprehension skills. By reading authentic articles and essays the students gain further insight into German society and culture.
Learning Objectives: By strengthening their reading skills students will gain the ability to read texts in basic German and will be able to read more complex texts with the help of a dictionary. Students will further be able to conduct basic oral communication.
Learning activities outside of classroom: The students are supposed to prepare and repeat the course contents for one hour per week. The main learning activities outside of classroom are repetition of the learnt grammar, memorizing vocabulary and doing homework or tasks, which are assigned by the teacher.
Grading Criteria /Policy: Point average of short tests 70%, course participation 30%. There will be a short test following the completion of every chapter. Therefore no final exam will be held. Course participation includes handing in homework and active participation during classes. If students fail to hand in their homework, points for the participation grade will be deducted. In case a student misses more than four classes without a reason, the student will not earn any credit for completing this course.
