Outline (in English)

German course for Beginners - This course introduces, continuing from the "German 1I", elementary Grammar, vocabulary and communication routines. The ultimate aim of this course is to get a way of learning foreign languages itself as a learner's perspective.
【Learning Objectives】
・To develop an understanding of a wide range of topics relating to life, culture and society in German-speaking countries and to express and explain these in German.
・Able to express their own opinions and take part in discussions on abstract topics in German.
・Able to write texts of a certain length in German. 
【Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)】
・The standard preparation and revision time for this course is at least one hour each.
・There are prescribed preparation and review tasks.
・Assignments outside of class time will be given on a case-by-case basis.
・In addition to the above, please read the newspaper (daily) or listen to the news as much as possible. It is advisable to make effective use of the internet and social networking sites for German-speaking media.
【Grading criteria】
The course will be judged on the basis of a combination of 60% of ordinary marks (active participation and contribution to the class, presentations, submitted assignments) and 40% of end-of-term assignments (tests).
On the basis of this grading system, students who have achieved at least 60% of the objectives of this course will be considered to have passed the course.
