Outline (in English)
・Course outline: This course is designed to develop reading and writing skills in English using basic words and sentences.
・Learning Objectives: By the end of this course, students will be an active English learner who tries to look up a dictionary to understand not only the meaning of a word, but also its collocation, and uses the skills they acquired for the act of reading and writing.
・Learning activities outside of the classroom: Preparation for exercises in the textbook.
・Grading Criteria/Policy: Class participation 40%, In class assignments 30%, Research paper 30%.
In principle, no more than 3 absences will be permitted per semester for the student to receive academic credit in the course.

基礎的な英語の語彙・表現に触れながら、リーディングとライティングのスキルを修得します。
到達目標Goal
学期の終わりまでに次のことができるようになるのが目標です。
・辞書を引き、単語の意味だけでなく品詞や用法を理解することができる。
・基本的な文法の知識に基づき、英文を読むことができる。
・簡単な英語で自分の考えを書くことができる。

・授業形態：教科書に沿って演習・解説をします。予習をして臨むこと。
・授業内課題：授業の終わりにライティングを行い、提出してもらいます。毎回辞書を持参してください。
・レポート課題：学期中に、教科書に出てくる都市について調べるレポート課題を出します。
・フィードバック方法：提出物は添削のうえ、返却します。
