Outline (in English)

【授業の概要(Course outline)】In the English 3 class, students will use the English skills acquired in the first-year English courses to develop their ability to understand and respect various cultures around the world, to relate their own culture to the global context, and to communicate their opinions in English after understanding and critically analyzing English materials on a variety of topics. In this class, students will use textbooks and news videos on Hawaiian society and history as teaching materials to learn and think about issues facing Hawaiian society in English.

【到達目標(Learning Objectives)】By taking this course, students will be able to
- read and understand academic texts written in English.
- analyze the context of academic texts they have understood critically.
- critically analyze the context, formulate their own opinions, and exchange them with others.

【授業時間外の学習(Learning activities outside of the classroom)】 University guidelines suggest preparation and review should be around an hour a week for a one-credit course.

【成績評価の方法と基準(Grading Criteria /Policy)】
Regular points 50% (Assignment + Discussion), Final presentation 50%.
In principle, no credits will be granted for absences of four or more per semester.
