Outline (in English)

This course builds upon the skills and knowledge gained from English 3 I, and aims to provide students with further opportu- nities to think critically and express their opinions on a variety of topics using English. To that end, in this course students will use English to learn about current issues published in newspapers, news websites etc and discuss and present their opinions.
University guidelines suggest preparation and review are around an hour a week for a one-credit course.
Students will be assessed based on the following criteria:
Class participation: 25%
Homework and quizzes: 35%
Presentations & an essay: 40%
Please note that any student who misses the equivalent of more than 3 classes will not pass this course except in extreme circumstances. Please also note that absence does not excuse students from doing homework. When absent, students are also responsible for obtaining information etc by contacting the teacher and/or other students and for coming back to class in the following week with all the preparation done.
