Outline (in English)
This class is aimed at improving comprehensive communication skills in This class is aimed at improving English skills acquired in freshmen's courses. Students will read articles and listen to conversations about various aspects of modern society. Through these language activities, students will deepen their understanding of our society and learn to express their opinions critically.

1. Students can listen to English passages accurately
2. Students can master necessary vocabularies and expressions for listening to English passages.
3. Student understand English grammar.
4. Students get the knowledge about a variety of social problems.

University guidelines suggest preparation and review should be around an hour a week for a one-credit course.

この授業では、1 年次に習得した四技能の英語運用能力をさらに伸張し、現代社会の様々なテーマを扱った文章や会話の読解・聴解をすることで、現代社会についての理解を深めて批判的に分析した上で、英語で意見を発信する能力の涵養を目指します。

・英語でのコミュニケーションに必要な語彙・文法を習得する。
・社会問題など高度な内容のディスカッションに必要な英語のリーディング能力を身につける
・情報収集に必要な英語のリーディング能力を身につける
・私たちが生きる現代社会について理解し、正しい批評態度で英語での発信ができるようになる

授業の進め方と方法Method(s)（学期の途中で変更になる場合には、別途提示します。 /If the Method(s) is changed, we will announce the details of any changes. ）
各unitを2回のペースで進めていきます。教科書の本文については事前に予習が必要です。授業は教科書に沿ってVocabulary Warm-up、本文の読解、Reading for General Information、Reading for Specific Information、Comprehension Check、Expressing Your Own Ideasの順で進めていきます。随時、話題と関連する動画を視聴したり意見を書くなどリスニングやライティングの演習も行います。
授業内で回収した英作文など、中間テストに関しては随時返却し、フィードバックします。

前回に引き続き、マレーシアの漫画ブームについての文章を読みます。その後教科書のExercise、Writingを行ないます。

ニュージーランドのホステル事情についての文章を読みます。

Unit 1～5の総復習をします。

Unit 4～unit 5を試験範囲とし、試験・まとめと解説を行ないます。
授業時間外の学習（準備学習・復習・宿題等）Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
本文に関して、わからない単語は辞書を引き、事前に読んでくること。授業後には聞き取れなかった箇所をもう一度聞き直す、文章の解釈を間違えた箇所を再度確認して下さい。
本授業の準備学習・復習時間は、合わせて1時間を標準とします。/University guidelines suggest preparation and review should be around an hour a week for a one-credit course.
