Outline (in English)

Students in this class read the textbook titled "Everyday History". This textbook has 15 units or lessons, each with a reading of around 300 words written in natural English, and a variety of conprehensive activites. The aim of this course is to help students develop not only the essential English skills such as reading, listening, writing and speaking, but also "a sense of history" which this textbook presents as the main subject.

By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
①Read an English article closely by using a English-Japanes dictionary correctly.
②Read and correctly understand an English essay with around 300 words in 50 minutes.
③Increase one's vocabulary.
④Raed aloud English sentences with correct pronouciation and accent.
⑤Listen and understand short talks in listening activities.

Before each class meeting, students will be expected to have read questions in Looking Ahead at the begginning of each chapter and guess the content of the reading. After each class meeting, students will be expected to write answers to these questions and submit them as a report through Hoppii. Your required study time is at least an hour for each class meeting.

Grading will be decided based on Term-end examination: 60%, Short reports: 20%, in class contribution: 20%.
