Outline (in English)

Course outline: The History of Rhetorical Criticism in the Postwar Period--Rhetoric is not just a technique for decorating a text, but a means of shaping the framework of thought. Especially during the war years, when freedom of speech was deprived, many writers and critics used rhetoric to write their works. This style of writing, which is secretive and open, flourished in the postwar world and produced many outstanding works. This lecture will be a fresh and interesting "reading of texts" selected from high school textbooks.

Learning Objectives: By reading basic postwar criticisms, which are now becoming classics, you will be able to think critically and fundamentally about society, thought and media under capitalism. In addition, by learning the history of capitalism, it will be possible to judge and evaluate the current ideological situation on grounds. By doing these critical readings, you will be a critically conscious member of society.

Learning activities outside of classroom: Read the class resume carefully and answer the assignments for each session. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.

Grading Criteria /Policy: Grading will be based on responses to the assignments in each class (30 points) and the final report exam (70 points). Students will be judged on their understanding of the lecture content, depth of thinking ability, and accuracy of written expression.
