Outline (in English)

Cultural anthropology is a discipline that shakes up our "norm" and invents new perspectives and values through encounters with various others. Because of its nature, cultural anthropology, which has a history of only about one century, has undergone many drastic transformations up to the present. In this lecture, we will learn about the history of anthropology and the concepts that have emerged from it, as well as consider how we should face the challenges we face, such as social mobility and climate change, through the knowledge that anthropologists have accumulated in the field around the world.
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content. Grading will be decided based on the term-end report (50%) and in class participation (50%).
