Outline (in English)

- Course outline
Each of us will also study and write a research paper on a question in Development Microeconomics.
We will study Development Microeconomics, how to write a research paper, make a presentation, analyze data as our capacity development.
We will study econometrics methods such as regression, randomized controlled trial, and instrument variable method, which appear frequently in each field of Applied Microeconomics.
We will aim to understand each method roughly and apply each method to data so that we will become able to look for paper ideas with keeping each empirical method in our mind.
- Learning Objectives
Each of us will become able to set a goal, read papers, analyze data, make slides, notes, and a paper, and present the paper based on what we learn.
We will learn methods of data analysis so that we can understand previous studies using the methods and we can look for a research idea and research question keeping the methods in our mind.
- Learning activities outside of classroom
We will read a document in advance.
One of us will make slides in advance so that we can discuss contents of the document and slides in class.
The standard time for preparation and review for this class is 2 hours each.
- Grading Criteria, Policies
Grading will be decided based on presentation, problem sets, discussion for capacity building (50%) and presentation, paper, discussion for research (50%).
