Outline (in English)

[Course outline]
The purpose of this course is to develop the basic skill necessary for students studying in the Faculty of Economics. In addition to learn how to search for academic materials and write reports, students will learn how to find interesting themes (problem finding skills), how to verify them theoretically and empirically (problem solving skills), and how to communicate them to others (communication skills) through group discussions and research presentations. In particular, this course aims to cultivate the "logical thinking skills" and individual/joint research skills to conduct "theoretical and empirical research on Economics issues" by student themselves.
[Learning Objectives]
The goal is to acquire the ability to question various economic phenomena (problem finding), investigate by oneself, find one's own answer (problem solving), and communicate (communication). The purpose is to acquire the ability to make presentations and discuss by utilizing various information collecting methods in the presence of various information such as books, journal, magazines, newspapers, and the Internet.
[Learning activities outside of classroom]
It is necessary to understand economic trends and trends in economic issues in the journals, books, newspapers, television, and the Internet. The study and collection of materials for debates and research presentations will be required. The standard total preparation and review time is 4 hours or more each time.
[Grading Criteria /Policy]
Normal evaluation100%. Comprehensive evaluation of presentations and preparation (appropriateness of literature survey, understanding of previous research, ability to apply analysis methods in the relevant field, finding a new issue and appropriateness of analysis methods).
