Outline (in English)

Outline: In this course, you will learn very basic mathematics, necessary to understand current economics and applicable to different business settings. Topics include differentiation(single variable), set theory, probability, and their application to economic models.
Goal: Students learn basic mathematics necessary to attend micro- and macroeconomics classes provided in the standard economics courses.
Basic mathematical skills to model and evaluate the activities of firms and governments are targeting goals, too.

Extracurricular Exercise: Students will be required to submit some homework assignments after working at the lecture materials (2hours). Other self-studies such as reading newspapers and TV programs on current Japanese and world economies will also be required (2hours).

Grading: homework(30%) and mini tests(70%)
