Outline (in English)

This course provides an introduction to the theories and the methods in investment analysis such as present value, yield to maturity, arbitrage, risk, and risk diversification. This course also introduces how the theories and methods in investment are utilized into the practical world. We focus on asset/liability management by banks and evaluation of investment performance. To explain practical uses of the theories and the methods in investment analysis more easily, data and simulation-based analyses are employed. The goal of this course is to acquire basic skills concerning risk management. Before each class meeting, students will be expected to spend two hours to understand the course content. Students are also required to spend two hours to review the content after each class. Final grade will be calculated according to the in-class assignments (30%) and term-end report (70%).
