Outline (in English)

Japanese labour law principally purposes to realise the conditions that enables people to work humanly.
It consists of individual labour law, collective labour law and labour market law.
In this lecture, through confirming and considering basic legal system and several judicial precedents of Japanese labour law, students could have a capacity to analyse and solve labour problems legally.
The following topics will be explained : the sources and regulation of terms and conditions of employment, the prevention and compensation of industrial accidents, the discrimination and equality in employment, the protection of worker’s personality, the formation and termination of employment, the rights and duties of parties during employment, the protection of certain categories of worker, the forms of collective organisations, the collective bargaining, the disputes acts and the unfair labour practices.

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Before each class meeting, students will be expected to spend two hours to read the relevant texts and news.
After each class meeting, students will be expected to spend two hours to understand the course content

【Grading Criteria /Policies】
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following :
Term-end examination: 70%、Short examinations in class: 30%
