Outline (in English)

[Course Outline]　
The main purpose of this course is to improve the skill of writing in English, with the aim of improving the other three skills of reading, listening, and speaking at the same time. Furthermore, by linking these four skills organically, we aim to cultivate the ability to understand and express intellectual content in English.
[Learning Objectives]
The final objective of this course is to understand English in the English modes of thinking, not in the Japanese ones.
[Learning Activities Outside of Classroom]
Students will be expected to spend at least an hour in preparing for and reviewing each class.
[Grading Criteria]
Each student's final grade will be decided, based on his or her submissions of the required assignments(40%) and their results(60%).

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives

　本授業では、英語を書く能力を高めることを主眼としながら、読む・聞く・話すという他の3技能の向上も目指す。また、この4技能を有機的に関連させて、知的内容を英語で理解し、英語で発信する能力を高めていく。
　

到達目標Goal

＊表現と読解に不可欠な文法を体系的に身に付ける。
＊文法的に正確できちんとした英語の体を成すセンテンスとパラグラフが書けるようにする。
＊知的内容を持った考えを英語で発信できるようにする。
＊日々の英語学習においてリスニングを習慣化し、英語の耳を養う。
＊英語の根本的論理を理解し、「日本語モード」ではなく「英語モード」で英語を捉えられるようにする。

授業の進め方と方法Method(s)（学期の途中で変更になる場合には、別途提示します。 /If the Method(s) is changed, we will announce the details of any changes. ）

　各Unitにおいて、Model Passage のリスニングとリーディング(音読を含む)を行った後、ライティング問題の演習を行う。尚、パラグラフ・レヴェルのライティングに関しては別途課題を提示する。何れのUnitにおいても、演習と共に重要事項や関連事項の解説などを行なっていく。授業では、日本語と英語の論理や発想の違いに常に留意しながら、英語的論理で英文を書けるようにしていく。
　年間を通して、無味乾燥な「暗記語学」ではなく、「知的に考える語学」というものを実践したい。
　各回の授業の課題(予備学習)に対し、授業(対面とオンラインの双方)での解説によってフィードバックを行う。
