Outline (in English)
As the title of the textbook chosen for the class suggests, the main aim of this course is to develop a kind of integrity by integrating skills integral to higher English proficiency as well as critical awareness of what's going on in global society.
Before each class meeting, you will be expected to have made preparations for it. Your required study time is at least one hour for each class meeting.
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following:
term-end examination: 40%; quizzes and assignments: 40%; in-class contribution: 20%.

現在の世界で起きているさまざまな動向について英語で学び知見を深める。その知識を自分の意見につなげ、英語で明確に表明する。英語の語彙、読解、聴き取り、表現力を連動的に向上させる。

テキストの各ユニットはリーディングと映像（ストリーミングによる事前の視聴可能、授業ではDVDを使用）を中心に構成されるが、両者の内容は共通するところが多い。授業ではウォームアップ問題→１度目のビデオ視聴→リーディングの語彙問題、音読と内容の要約→２度目のビデオ視聴というサイクルで各ユニットのトピックについての理解を深める。発言は挙手を優先し、ランダムな指名と組みあわせる。
ユニットの最後ではそれまでに得た情報をアウトプットに生かす。ディスタンシングへの配慮も考慮し、個人の英作文提出を基本とするが、与えられた課題に応じてペアワークやグループでの発表も行なう可能性もあり。
各ユニット終了後、単語と語法に関連した小テストを行なう。

試験とまとめ

***本授業の準備学習・復習時間は、合わせて1時間を標準とします。***
ビデオは授業でも見るが、自習用オンラインサービスもあるので必ず事前に視聴をすること。予習を前提として進めるので、語彙や読解の問題は事前に解いたうえで授業にのぞむこと。リーディングの音声はダウンロードできるので事前に聞き、単語のアクセント、音の連結や省略を意識しながら朗読の練習をすること。

参考書References
英語力のレベルを上げるには『リーダーズ英和』（研究社）など語彙の充実した英語辞書は欠かせない。英作文においてはAI隷属化の好ましからぬ影響があるため、とくに認めた場合を除き、端末機器の使用は禁止。
成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
最終試験４０％、小テストと課題４０％、授業への積極的参加と発言２０％。欠席４回以上の者は単位取得対象外となるが、出席のみに点数を与えることはないので誤解のないように。
学生の意見等からの気づきChanges following student comments
アクリル板のせいで聴きとりづらいという意見があり、今年度はどうなるのかわからないが、板がなくなっても同様のコメントをもらわないようにしたい。
