Outline (in English)

Learning about investments and money is becoming essential knowledge for future life in society. In addition, students who wish to work in the financial industry after graduation, as well as those who work in non-financial industries, are required to have a variety of knowledge about finance in order to carry out their work. In this course, students will learn the basics of financial theory necessary for individuals to live their lives, as well as the role of financial institutions in the economy. (In the latter part of the fall semester, based on this basic knowledge of finance, students will learn about policies related to finance, such as monetary policy, and the public sector of finance, including fiscal and tax systems). The goal of this course is for students to understand the connection between practice and theory and to acquire sufficient knowledge to be able to find their own solutions to financial problems. After the class, students are expected to review what they learned in class and read articles in newspapers and magazines related to the lecture. Preparatory study and review time for this class are 2 hours each. The grades are based on the final exam (70%) and mid-term report (30%).
