Outline (in English)

(1)Course Outline
This lecture will provide first year law students with guides for studying law. In this lecture, students will expand their knowledge and gain an understanding of the characteristics of legal thinking by taking up concepts and issues that are necessary in studying law. This lecture will help students to build a foundation for studying law subjects further.
Although there is a general understanding that the study of law begins after entering university, in fact, students have already acquired a variety of knowledge in prior education. This lecture makes sense of them and connects them to an organic understanding.

(2)Learning Objectives
Understanding followings:
(a)Characteristics of laws from various perspectives
(b)Basic concepts of the court system
(c)Basic concepts of the legal system

(3)Learning Activities Outside of Classroom
Students are expected to study the textbook and other contents as instructed in the class. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.

(4)Grading Criteria /Policy
Report assignment: 80%, class participation and others: 20%.
Several report assignments will be given. Students will be asked to submit a reaction paper in each class, which is subject to class participation grade.
