Outline (in English)

[Course outline]
This course introduces students to the field of linguistics, the scientific study of language. The spring semester focuses on examining the structure of words (morphology) and phrases and sentences (syntax).
[Learning objectives]
Through this course, students should be able to understand the basic principles of morphology and syntax, and develop problem-solving skills. They should be able to develop greater awareness of language-related phenomena and problems in their daily lives.
[Learning activities outside of classroom]
Students are expected to study the assigned materials, work on homework assignments, and prepare for the next class. The standard study time required before and after each class is 4 hours total.
[Grading criteria/policy]
Your overall grade will be determined based on attendance and class participation (25%), midterm test (25%), and final test (50%). As a rule, if you are absent for more than 4 classes or neglect to take the final test without a legitimate reason, course credit will not be granted.
