Outline (in English)

[Course outline]
This course will help students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to plan and carry out psychological research, and effectively present their accomplishments. The spring semester focuses on research planning and preparation.
[Learning objectives]
Through this course, students should become able to:
1. Search and critically read research articles.
2. Provide a thorough literature review and devise original research questions.
3. Construct a detailed research plan based on the research questions.
4. Prepare research materials, equipment, and ethical review documents necessary to carry out the research plan.
5. Give an effective presentation of one's research goals and progress.
[Learning activities outside of classroom]
Students will set appropriate goals and strive to achieve those goals by the next class meeting. Presentation materials should be prepared as needed. Students are also expected to provide feedback to other students' work through peer-review activities. For each class, students will be expected to spend at least 4 hours outside of class to make progress in their research.
[Grading criteria/policy]
Your overall grade will be determined based on attendance and class participation (40%) and in-class presentations (60%). As a rule, if you are absent for more than 4 classes or fail to present in class without a legitimate reason, course credit will not be granted.
