Outline (in English)

This course focuses on the basis knowledge of Petrology and Sedimentology in Geology.
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
-A) understand the basics of Earth Science in relation to Petrology and Sedimentology, and be able to explain them in own words,
-B) understand the origin of rocks and the basics of their theory, and be able to roughly distinguish the type of rocks,
-C) understand the basics of Sedimentology, and be able to roughly estimate the sedimentary environment from the sedimentary structure.
Before/after each class meeting students will be expected to spend two hours to understand the course content.
Grading will be decided based on the quality of the student’s performance and presentation (20%) , report (30%) and short tasks (50%).
