Outline (in English)

The aim of this seminar is to understand American literature by focusing on different aspects of culture every year. This year we will read American short stories by paying special attention to the use of food, dining and cooking scenes. The seminar also enhances students’ skills in close reading of texts and in effective oral presentations and papers. Before/after each class meeting, students’ required study time is at least four hours. Grading will be based on in-class contribution (30%), presentations (35%), and papers (35%).
